Getting Involved

If you are interested in helping in our efforts to spread Astronomy during the International Year of Astronomy, we encourage you to do so.  Below are some common ways to get involved, but if you have other ideas or suggestions and would like to coordinate with us, please feel free to contact us.

Spread the Word

We can always use more help getting the word out about the IYA and, in particular, the events being hosted in Pennsylvania.

  • Send a Press Release to your Local Newspaper, advertising your event, the International Year of Astronomy, and iyapa2009.com. (press release template coming soon)
  • If you are interested in hosting one of our banners, want to suggest a venue, or would like to print your own copy, please contact us.
  • Create a link from your website/blog to our homepage. (feel free to use our downloadable web banners)
  • Word of Mouth.

Star Parties

If you would like to host your own star party during our Regional Star Party on April 2-5, we encourage you to register your event with us as well as at 100 Hours of Astronomy.  By registering your event, we will be able to help promote your event and make it as successful as possible.  We will also send you materials and tips so that you can make the most out of your event.

If you are hosting a star party at another date during the year, or are holding another event that may be of interest, you are still welcome to register your event with us and we will add it to our event list.

To register your event please send an email to register@iyapa2009.com.  Please provide any necessary information (name of event, description, date, time, place, contact info, etc) and we will post your event as soon as possible on our calendar.
